Are you looking for a 5 - 6 session salaried role? Due to the expansion of our team, we have an exciting opportunity to welcome another GP to our experienced and supportive team.
Main duties of the job:
Our purpose-built practice is based in Chippenham over 2 sites, 14 miles from the City of Bath, on the edge of the Cotswolds, with easy access to the M4.

We pride ourselves on providing high quality, patient-centred care with a strong team-working ethos. Skilled Worker Visa approved surgery with experience of previously employed skilled worker visa holders. Friendly, progressive and flexible. Remote working considered for part of sessional commitment. Flexible session times considered on discussion. Protected weekly administration time for all GPs - allocation of time dependent on sessions worked. Encouragement to develop areas of interest in line with the practice needs, to include the supervision/training of medical students. Bi-monthly practice clinical meeting and regular CPD sessions. Geared towards reducing GP workload with support from an experienced and dedicated Leadership and admin team that includes Medical Secretaries and a Data/Workflow team. A range of clinical support staff including an experienced Nurse Team, Advanced Practitioners, Health Care Assistants and Phlebotomists. Training practice with ST trainees, medical students and other ARRS roles. This is not a Retainer or Fellowship GP role. Active part of the strong and cohesive Chippenham, Corsham and Box Primary Care Network (PCN) circa 60,000 patients. Expanding PCN employed staff, currently including First Contact Physiotherapists, a Clinical Pharmacy team and a Living Well Team including Social Prescribers and Care Coordinators.
Job responsibilities:
- Experienced GP to work 5 to 6 sessions a week. Flexible working available.
Key Job duties and Responsibilities:
- Clinical Care
- Undertake face-to-face, telephone, video and online consultations with patients.
- Assess, diagnose, manage and treat a wide range of acute and chronic conditions in line with current clinical guidelines.
- Prescribe medications appropriately and review patient medication regimes regularly.
- Refer patients to secondary and community care services as clinically appropriate.
- Perform routine health checks, screening and disease prevention activities.
- Organise and interpret investigation results and follow up as required.
- Administration & Documentation
- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential patient records in accordance with NHS and Practice guidelines and policy.
- Action clinical correspondence and administrative tasks (e.g. referrals, results, prescription requests).
- Team Contribution
- Work collaboratively with nursing, paramedics, allied health and administrative staff, Data, Prescriptions and Operations Teams.
- Participate in regular clinical meetings, practice development and quality improvement activities.
- Contribute to achieving practice targets (such as QOF) where agreed.
- Buddy with other GPs to support and provide cover during annual leave and planned absences.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the role of a Salaried GP.
Person Specification:
- Qualifications: Qualified and Experienced GP with General Practice experience in a similar sized practice.
- Experience: Experience of working as a GP in a primary care setting (or equivalent supervised experience for recently qualified GPs). Experience of assessing, diagnosing and managing a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients, including those with complex health, social, or safeguarding needs. Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team, including nursing and allied health professionals. Experience of safe prescribing and medicines management. At least 2 years+ experience of working in a GP practice.
