Thecore purpose of the Learning Support Assistants at Hateley Heath Academy is toenhance children's learning..

It is to make a contribution to the planning ofthe learning, to help pupils to access the tasks expected of them, to supportas appropriate and to help monitor their progress.

It is important that teacherand teaching assistant work closely together in order to make the best use ofthe time available in the classroom.

  • Core Objectives
  • Tosupport and uphold the school's vision and values
  • Tosupport children with in a small group, including those with specialeducational needs to learn as effectively and independently as possible, bothindividually and in small groups
  • Torun a range of interventions to support individuals and small groups
  • Toprepare materials and resources to support individuals, small groups andclassroom learning opportunities
  • Tosupport children's emotional development and resilience when approachinglearning tasks
  • Tosupport children's behaviour in line with the school's vision, values andpositive behaviour policy
  • To have an awareness of and adherence to all schoolsafeguarding procedures and participate in training as appropriate
  • Toensure the health and safety of the children and to report any concerns ordetails of accidents/incidents as necessary to the Headteacher
  • To implement and promote the schools equal opportunities policies atall times and to value diversity
  • To support the school's wide range of extra - curricular activities; including helping to run a club
  • Main Responsibilities

The Headteacher will use her professional judgement to determine the precise responsibilities of staff carrying out cover supervision duties.

Needs may differ depending on particular classes.

  • In whatever context, cover supervision is likely to include some core elements:
  • Supervising work that has been set in accordance with the school polic
  • Managing the behaviour of pupils whilst they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment.
  • Responding to any questions from pupils about process and procedures.
  • Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school's policies and procedures.
  • Collecting any completed work and marking after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher.
  • Reporting back as appropriate using the school's agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising.
