Social Housing Assessment and Lettings Officer
Key Responsibilities
- Assess housing applications under Housing Act legislation
- Register and manage housing waiting list applications
- Carry out verifications, interviews and home visits where required
- Apply banding and priority in line with allocation policy
- Issue decision letters and manage review rights
- Support the choice‑based lettings process, including property advertising and bidding
- Make nominations and allocations to minimise voids
- Provide clear advice to applicants on offers and refusals
- Maintain accurate case records on housing systems
- Respond to customer enquiries and complaints
Key Requirements
- Experience assessing housing applications within a local authority
- Strong knowledge of social housing legislation and allocations
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Confident IT user, including housing and lettings systems
Additional Information
- Temporary assignment until June, with possible extension
- Working for a local authority Housing Needs Service
