Role Overview
We are looking for a Technical Assistant to support the Health and Safety team within a local authority. You will assist the Health and Safety Manager in promoting a positive health and safety culture and supporting the day-to‑day operations of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Health and Safety team.
- Take minutes of meetings and maintain accurate records.
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and statistical data.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of health and safety systems and policies.
- Coordinate and organise health and safety training, including booking rooms and recording attendance.
- Assist with asbestos management and other health and safety compliance tasks.
- Respond to written enquiries and Freedom of Information requests as required.
- Promote health and safety awareness across the organisation.
Skills & Experience
- Recent experience taking minutes of meetings.
- Ability to communicate fluently, both written and verbal.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety legislation.
- High‑level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
Qualifications
- Educated to Level 2 (GCSE A-C or equivalent), including English and Maths.
- NEBOSH General Certificate is desirable or willingness to work towards it.
