We are currently recruiting for a Mobile Public Convenience Cleaner / Cleaning Operative to support Belfast City Council's Facilities Management team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cleaner or facilities operative who is confident working independently, travelling between locations, and delivering a high standard of cleaning service across Belfast.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine, scheduled and reactive cleaning duties across Belfast City Council public conveniences and other assigned buildings.
  • Travel between multiple sites using a council vehicle.
  • Ensure facilities are clean, safe and fully stocked with required supplies.
  • Complete cleaning records, checklists and vehicle documentation.
  • Open, close and secure buildings as required.
  • Assist with general cleaning, portering and labouring duties when required.
  • Liaise professionally with members of the public and council staff.

Working Hours & Pay

This role offers 37 hours per week and operates on a flexible rota basis, including a mixture of weekday, evening and weekend shifts. Candidates must be flexible to work across different shift patterns and locations as required by the service. Weekend working will be required as part of the rota and will attract enhanced rates of pay where applicable.

Pay Rates

Standard rate: £13.47 per hour. Weekend enhancement rates apply for eligible weekend hours worked (enhanced rates may be up to £43.34 per hour PAYE, depending on the shift and applicable enhancement rules). Working days, locations and shift times will vary depending on the rota and operational requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • Full current UK driving licence.
  • Previous cleaning experience, ideally within a mobile or multi-site environment.
  • Experience driving in an urban environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Reliable, flexible and safety-conscious approach to work.
