We're recruiting on behalf of Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council for 3 x Cleansing Operatives to join their Environmental Services team. You'll be part of the Operational Services Team, helping deliver an effective refuse collection, street cleansing, and amenity collection service across the local area.

Hours: 06:00-14:00, 37 hours per week

Start date: 31 August 2026

Location: Unit 5 Blaris Industrial Estate, Altona Road, Lisburn, BT27 5QB

Pay: £13.69 per hour (PAYE)

What you'll be doing:

  • Litter picking, manual sweeping, and clearing litter/debris from roads, pavements, and public spaces
  • Household and commercial waste collection, bulky item collections, and removal of illegally dumped waste
  • Winter duties such as gritting and snow clearance when required
  • Acting as first point of contact for your crew, relaying instructions from supervisors
  • Completing daily paperwork accurately
  • Delivering great customer service to members of the public
  • Following all health & safety and road traffic regulations, including correct use of PPE

What we're looking for:

  • At least 1 year's experience in manual work
  • Previous experience in waste collection, street cleansing, or a similar field
  • Understanding of waste handling and health & safety guidelines
  • Reliable, flexible, and comfortable working as part of a crew
  • Eligible to work in the UK
