Up to £60,000 | 100% Remote (UK-based only)
A leading cloud software provider is seeking an experienced Database Specialist to join their high-performing Platform Team. This is a remote-first role, supporting a cloud-native SaaS platform trusted by major players in the global energy sector.
With a product managing over half of North Sea hydrocarbons and expanding globally, this position plays a key role in ensuring performance, scalability, and stability across a complex, hybrid cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities
Database Operations & Performance
- Monitor and optimise Oracle databases for high availability and performance
- Support Java EE applications and AWS Lambda functions
- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance issues
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams on AWS configuration and tuning
Platform Development
- Design and evolve schemas for new SaaS features
- Optimise data access for low-code/no-code tools
- Support data persistence and event-driven workflows (Kinesis, EventBridge)
- Assist with migrations and build robust audit logging mechanisms
DevOps & Automation
- Automate database maintenance and monitoring tasks
- Integrate database performance metrics with AWS CloudWatch
Customer Success & Support
- Handle complex data migrations, including historical data
- Investigate customer-specific database issues
- Deliver tailored database configurations to meet client reporting needs
- Oracle (RDS, EC2)
- AWS services: Kinesis, EventBridge, CloudWatch
- Terraform, AWS CDK (Infrastructure as Code)
Requirements
Must-Have:
- 6+ years\’ Oracle DBA experience
- Strong SQL performance tuning skills
- Experience with Java application connectivity
- Must be a team player
- Hands-on AWS experience (RDS, EC2, Aurora)
- Disaster recovery and high availability expertise
- Understanding of SaaS and multi-tenant platforms
- Scripting knowledge (Python, Shell, or similar)
- Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps best practices
