Belfast City Council is seeking a Tours and Collections Assistant to support the delivery of a high-quality visitor experience at Belfast City Hall. You will play a key role in delivering guided tours, supporting exhibitions, and assisting with the management of the Council's art and artefact collections.
This is a public-facing role requiring strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver professional guided tours of Belfast City Hall and its grounds
- Provide bespoke tours for civic dignitaries, elected members, and senior officers
- Manage tour bookings, diary systems, and visitor scheduling
- Support invoicing, cash handling, and financial reconciliation processes
- Assist in the management, cataloguing, and storage of art and artefacts
- Support exhibitions, displays, and interpretation of historical collections
- Respond to visitor enquiries and provide high-quality customer service
- Assist with marketing and promotion of tours and exhibitions
- Use systems such as Artifax and other internal databases
- Provide occasional reception cover when required
- Support casual staff training and operational coordination
- Ensure compliance with Council policies, including health and safety and safeguarding
You will have strong interpersonal and organisational skills and experience working in a customer-facing environment.
Essential requirements include:- At least 1 year's relevant experience in at least two of the following areas:
- Guided tours or visitor experience delivery
- Customer-facing role including administration and cash handling
- Use of Microsoft Office, diary systems, or similar software
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent customer care skills with a professional approach
- Ability to prioritise workload and work independently or as part of a team
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office applications
- Experience handling cash and following financial procedures
