Sports Development Officer - Temporary | Belfast City Council Linenhall Street, Belfast City Centre BT2 8BP £20.66 per hour (PAYE) 37 hours per week Starting Monday 12 October 2026 Hatched Recruitment Group is recruiting an experienced Sports Development Officer to join Belfast City Council's Leisure Development team. You'll help develop and promote sport and physical activity across the city, creating opportunities for everyone to get involved. What you'll be doing: Helping develop and deliver the council's Physical Activity and Sports Development Strategy Advising and supporting clubs and community organisations on structures, governance, facilities and funding Building partnerships to increase participation, particularly among under-represented groups Organising and promoting club activities, competitions, workshops and events across the city Seeking and developing partnerships with funding organisations Assessing grant and funding applications and making recommendations Monitoring the Sports Development Programme budget and reporting on performance to elected members and management Creating new and innovative programmes to increase participation in sport and physical activity What you'll need: A full, current driving licence valid in Northern Ireland and a car available for work Either: a third-level qualification in leisure management, business studies or similar, or full membership of ISRM or CIMSPA, with at least 1 year's experience in each of the areas below, or at least 2 years' experience in each of these areas: advising and supporting clubs and community organisations on sports development developing sporting partnerships sourcing, securing and managing funding for sport Strong communication, report-writing and partnership working skills Good budget management and organisational skills What's on offer: £20.66 per hour, paid weekly Holiday pay accrued in line with statutory entitlement Pension auto-enrolment (subject to eligibility) The chance to work with one of Northern Ireland's largest public sector employers You must be eligible to work in the UK and able to provide your driving licence at application stage.
