Hatched Recruitment are currently recruiting Recycling Operatives on behalf of Belfast City Council's Waste Management Service. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in waste management, recycling, customer service, or similar operational environments.
The Role:
As a Recycling Operative, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of a recycling centre, assisting members of the public and ensuring waste materials are managed safely and effectively.
Duties will include:
- Advising and assisting members of the public with the correct disposal and segregation of recyclable materials
- Ensuring the recycling centre is maintained in a clean and safe condition
- Monitoring waste materials and ensuring compliance with site procedures
- Supporting contractors and site operations where required
- Carrying out health and safety checks and reporting any issues
- Operating equipment and assisting with general site duties
- Providing a high standard of customer service at all times
Hours of Work:
The role operates on a rota basis:
Example Summer hours (1 April - 30 September):
- Sunday: 11:45am - 5:15pm
- Wednesday: 1:15pm - 8:15pm (every other Wednesday)
- Saturday: 8:45am - 5:15pm
Additional overtime may be available during busy periods such as Christmas, New Year, Easter and summer.
Essential Criteria:
- Previous experience working in waste management, recycling, or a similar environment
- Experience providing customer service and dealing with members of the public
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Understanding of health and safety procedures
- Must be eligible to work in the UK
