Hatch Early Learning Centre is a family-owned, early childhood centre located in Prebbleton, Christchurch. We are seeking a passionate, qualified, and fully registered kaiako/teacher to join our team to support our tamariki aged 2-5 years of age.

This position would suit a kaiako who is committed to high-quality early childhood education and who thrives in a collaborative, reflective team environment. You will play a key role in empowering our tamariki to flourish, supporting their learning, wellbeing, and transition to school.

Working closely with our two team leaders you will contribute to a positive and professional team culture and ensure the centre’s philosophy and values are consistently reflected in practice. You will take pride in fostering a warm, welcoming environment for children and whānau, and in contributing to the strong professional reputation of our centre.

This role is a part-time position working three days a week across our toddler and preschool rooms.

About you:

  • A genuine, empathetic kaiako who values meaningful relationships and enjoys creating a joyful learning environment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with children, whānau, and colleagues
  • Well organised, with sound knowledge of curriculum design, planning, learning stories, and assessment
  • Adaptable and flexible to work with varying age groups across two rooms.
  • A reflective practitioner committed to ongoing professional growth and continuous improvement

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing a responsive, rich, and inclusive curriculum for all children
  • Supporting the development of social and emotional competence in tamariki

Requirements:

  • Full ECE qualification and current teacher registration
  • Current first aid certificate
  • A strong passion for nurturing tamariki within a happy, healthy, and supportive environment
