For over 24 years Oasis Project (Oasis) has been delivering services for women with drug and alcohol problems and children affected by drug use in the family. We are an innovative organisation aiming to empower women affected by substance misuse. We give help and hope to women and children affected by drug and alcohol problems. Our employees demonstrate understanding of the complex issues facing women substance misusers in order to help empower them to make choices that lead to change.
This role is based in Hastings, East Sussex. There will be some home working but also an expectation for the post holder to work from the office and undertake outreach work.

What you will do:
As a Specialist Women’s Worker, you will work holistically with a small caseload of women across East Sussex who are vulnerably housed (e.g. living in Temporary or Emergency Accommodation or ‘sofa surfing’) and may have multiple and complex needs including substance misuse, domestic abuse, experience of the Criminal Justice System, and poor mental and physical health. You will work with women on an outreach basis to deliver an intensive, relationship-based model of support. You will drive good practice, working effectively within multi-disciplinary teams and utilising the expertise of Oasis Project to contribute to enhancing safety, health and well-being for the women you work with.
You will have:
- Social Work, Nursing (RMN, RGN) or Counselling Qualification or +3 years’ experience of working in a support role with people with complex needs and substance misuse
- Significant experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team and participating in multi-agency relationship building and working
- An understanding of current issues related to substance misuse
- Experience of delivering interventions promoting behaviour change
- Experience of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults legislation and processes
- Experience of supervising others, or supporting colleagues in their roles to achieve effective outcomes as a team
