Role overview:

Join our team and you’ll be part of a dynamic and forward-thinking team who are on a journey to become the market leading Large Loss team in the country, specialising in Motor Claims. We have exceptionally strong technical capability within the department, and we are passionate about developing our people from a technical and commercial perspective. Because we are a fast-growing business, our large Loss people often have a quicker development journey to that of other more traditional insurers - we're always happy to invest in our colleagues! Due to wider policy growth across Hastings Direct, we have multiple positions available for this role. Therefore, depending on your skills and experience within the Large Loss space, we’d still love to hear from you, even if you’re not quite at the required authority limits outlined below as we may have other positions across the team.

Job details – you’ll need to have demonstrable experience in:

  • Managing your own portfolio of motor personal injury cases in excess of £1m to £3m and working under agreed authority limits and criteria set by the department.
  • Communicating through various means to bring about a speedy resolution of the claim with our customers, witnesses, insurers, repairers, solicitors, engineers, medical experts, forensic accountants, rehab providers, case managers etc.
  • Providing coaching, mentoring and training and acting as a referral point and mentor within the wider claims handling team.
  • Joining the bi-annual technical forums where we enlist panel lawyers and expert guest speakers, reviewing technical strategy and having targeting training.
  • Taking an active role in undertaking various strategic projects to ensure that the department continues to evolve and we stay a step ahead of industry trends and performance.
  • Supporting and embedding our company values and policies whilst working to the highest standard.

Essential skills/experience:

  • Strong experience within the motor insurance industry in a claims handling role, with knowledge of handling personal injury claims and experience of routinely dealing with claims between £1m– £3m.
  • Strong indemnity and liability knowledge, and an eye for detail, with an understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), Serious Injury Guide (SIG), The Rehabilitation Code and litigation procedure.
  • Someone who is passionate about a long-term career in large loss and ready to join a company who will invest in their technical development.
