Role overview

As our Building Services Engineer, you’ll deliver high quality, multi-skilled maintenance services across our Bexhill office, with a significant focus on plumbing works. You’ll undertake planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and minor project work across a range of building services. Although we’re looking for our new colleague to have a primary discipline in plumbing, you’ll also support across fabric and mechanical maintenance activities, contributing to a multi-skilled maintenance service.

Job details – you’ll need to have demonstrable experience in:

  • Delivering plumbing and multi-skilled maintenance tasks safely, effectively and without risk to others – proactively identifying, reporting and (where possible) making safe any plumbing, mechanical or building fabric issues.
  • Completing all assigned PPM and reactive works within agreed priority timescales and accurately recording all activities in the CAFM system.
  • Notifying the Facilities Manager of any issues that may impact building operations, service delivery, business-critical systems or statutory compliance.
  • Ensuring that RAMS and permits to work are in place for all relevant tasks, whether completed in-house or by contractors.
  • Supporting and overseeing external contractors on site, acting as a point of contact as required and monitoring the quality, safety and progress of works.
  • Participating in any out-of-hours activities including planned works and emergency reactive call outs, responding effectively to incidents that may impact building safety or operations.

Essential skills/experience:

  • Strong experience in plumbing (or closely related building services discipline with demonstrable experience of delivering day-to-day planned and reactive maintenance).
  • Strong understanding of H&S legislation, safe systems of work, industry guidance and working knowledge of building services systems (including basic mechanical and M&E plant operation).
  • Understanding of RAMS, Permit to Work systems and experience of using CAFM systems for logging, updating and closing tasks.

The interview process involves the below:

  • Recruiter screening call
  • 1st stage interview with hiring leader (on-site)
