Please note: This role is being offered on a fixed term contract for approximately 15 months.

Role overview: As our Bank Reconciliations Manager, you’ll ensure that all funds received and paid to and from Hastings Group bank accounts are correctly allocated and reconciled. You’ll manage a small team, ensuring processes are followed and that SLA’s are met, investigating any differences, liaising with other business areas to identify and fix defects, and report to management on any outstanding issues.

Job details – you’ll need to have demonstrable experience in:

  • Leading teams through end-to-end implementation and changes of new bank reconciliation software projects involving liaising with system teams, consultants and new software providers, plus running user acceptance testing within the team, ensuring a smooth transition.
  • Managing the bank reconciliation team, leading the team in embedding the new software into BAU operations and leading, coaching and developing team members to unlock their full potential.
  • Investigating bank reconciliation differences caused by system defects and raise user stories for new defects discovered and working closely with other departments to determine the causes of any issues/errors, acting as a referral point for the business to help resolve these issues.
  • Ensuring all reconciliation differences are resolved and liaising with other teams to ensure cashbook journals are prepared and actioned to clear outstanding items.
  • Producing and presenting monthly control reports to ensure management are aware of any outstanding items and issues.
  • Actioning various day to day tasks to support our wider Finance team and any other accounting related duties relevant to bank reconciliations.

Essential skills/experience:

  • Strong previous experience of bank reconciliations, involving large volumes of transactions, ideally within insurance, financial services or other regulated environment.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft packages including MS Excel.
  • Experience of managing a team during periods of change.
  • Good experience of being able to lead and drive projects forward, with the ability to work to strict deadlines and able to prioritise workload.
