Supported by our inspiring General Manager, Lee Newell, you will provide leadership to our Food and Beverage team, ensuring the smooth day-to-day management of our busy hotel Restaurant. We want to help you to develop your skills and offer an extensive range of learning and development opportunities.

The successful candidate will have worked in a busy restaurant environment and be able to lead, motivate and support team members to achieve success. You can expect to work 40 hours per week (excluding breaks), five shifts out seven including weekends. As Food and Beverage Manager you will have a fully flexible approach as working patterns will include days, evenings and weekends as required., 1. To manage and motivate employees through effective communication, training and development, in accordance with company policies and relevant employment legislation, ensuring HR procedures are followed.

  1. To promote and contribute to a harmonious working environment where all employees are treated with respect and dignity.

  2. To determine and agree annual budgets, putting in place appropriate mechanisms to effectively manage costs and all factors relating to profitable performance of the restaurant/bar/lounge, ensuring appropriate plans are created, agreed, communicated, implemented and reviewed.

  3. To ensure Hastings quality standards and procedures are fully understood, implemented and regularly reviewed, and that formal and informal feedback is used to ensure continual improvement.

  4. To ensure company policies relating to stock management and stock ordering are implemented and monitored, taking appropriate action to resolve problems.

  5. To ensure all food and beverage staff receive appropriate training, coaching and development to provide effective and efficient service in line with Hastings standards.

  6. To ensure the team are knowledgeable about the facilities and services within the hotel and are proactive in the sale of these to guests.

  7. To ensure you and the team assist guests with any reasonable request for hotel services

  8. To ensure you and the team respond to complaints and find the appropriate solution.

  9. To maintain effective communication and relationships with other hotel departments, suppliers and enforcement agencies to maintain an effective operation and ensure guest satisfaction.

  10. To ensure the restaurant, lounge and banqueting areas, fixtures and equipment are properly maintained and presented to Hastings standards.

  11. To ensure the security of the restaurant, lounge, bars and storage areas is maintained at all times.

  12. To ensure a safe environment is maintained in compliance with health, safety, fire, hygiene and security legislation and company policies and procedures.

  13. To seek and continuously develop knowledge relating to the industry sector and competitor activity, to provide input into future plans and activities, and so maintain and enhance market position.

  14. To assist with the recruitment, selection and utilisation of food and beverage employees to achieve the optimum use of employee resource in line with business peaks and troughs.

  15. To contribute to the development of the hotel business plan, projects and initiatives to continually develop the hotel business and market position.

  16. To ensure the hotel’s compliance with all matters relating to licensing laws, Customs and Excise Regulations and all other relevant legislation.

  17. To carry out Duty Manager duties as required.

  18. Any other duties as required by General Manager

We would love you to be a passionate, inspiring leader, with similar previous experience gained within a quality catering establishment, * Experience in preparing rosters, wage forecasting and awareness of budgeting and cost control procedures.

  • Have excellent customer care and organisational skills, with all round experience in food and beverage.

  • Excellent communication and basic numeracy skills.

  • Must have a professional appearance

  • Right to Work in the United Kingdom

  • Must be educated to GCSE standard with grades A-C in English and Maths.

  • Previous food and beverage management experience gained in a hotel

  • Must have excellent attention to detail

  • Work well under pressure and be a team player
