Under the leadership of our General Manager, Sam Denning, you will have the opportunity to work with our friendly team, develop your skills, and enjoy the variety offered by a role in hospitality. We want to help you to develop your skills and offer an extensive range of learning and development opportunities. The successful candidate can expect to work 35 hours per week (excluding breaks), five shifts out of seven including weekends. Hours vary to cover breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening functions. The salary for this full-time position starts from £29,000 per annum depending on experience. About The Role:

  • To assist with the management of the Restaurant for the greatest enjoyment of guests and maximum profit contribution to the hotel.
  • To manage and motivate employees through effective communication, training, and development, in accordance with company policies and relevant employment legislation, ensuring all procedures are followed to Hastings Standards.
  • To promote and contribute to a harmonious working environment where all employees are treated with respect and dignity.
  • To receive payments for beverages sold and record drinks and goods sold to guests, in accordance with operating procedures.
  • To use equipment and bar pumps efficiently, to maintain proper measures and ensure minimum wastage.
  • To support the General Manager with annual budgets, putting in place appropriate mechanisms to effectively manage costs and all factors relating to the financial performance of the Bar.
  • To ensure Hastings quality standards and procedures are fully understood, implemented and regularly reviewed.
  • To ensure bar stocks are fully maintained and that goods and products are properly displayed to a high standard.
  • To ensure company policies relating to stock management and stock ordering are implemented and monitored.
  • To ensure all employees receive appropriate training, coaching and development to provide effective and efficient service in line with Hastings standards.
  • To ensure the team are knowledgeable about the facilities and services within the hotel and are proactive in the sale of these to guests.
  • To ensure you and the team assist guests with any reasonable request for hotel services.
  • To ensure you and the team respond to complaints and find the appropriate solution.
  • To maintain effective communication and relationships with other properties, departments, suppliers etc. to maintain an effective operation and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • To ensure the bar areas, fixtures and equipment are properly maintained and presented to Hastings standards.
  • To ensure the security of restaurant and storage areas is maintained at all times.
  • To ensure a safe environment is maintained in compliance with health, safety, fire, hygiene and security legislation and company policies and procedures.
  • To seek and continuously develop knowledge relating to the industry sector and competitor activity.
  • To assist with the recruitment, selection and utilisation of employees to achieve the optimum use of employee resource in line with business peaks and troughs.
  • To ensure the hotel's compliance with all matters relating to licensing laws, Customs and Excise Regulations and all other relevant legislation.
  • To carry out the role of Duty Manager for the Hotel as required.

Required Criteria:

  • Strong operational bar experience

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant field such as Tourism and Hospitality Management
  • Previous experience as a manager in a high-quality establishment
