Welcome to Heretaunga, the area renowned for its rich and fertile landscape that is sustained by its lifeâgiving dews and waterways. Hastings District Councilâs Kaitiaki help create safe, welcoming spaces for everyone who uses our facilities. Youâll see them at pools, libraries, and other community spacesâbeing a friendly, reassuring presence and stepping in when support is needed.
Weâre looking for approachable, levelâheaded people who enjoy working with others and want to make a positive difference in their community. This is a great entryâlevel role if youâre confident around people, good at reading situations, and comfortable speaking up when something doesnât feel right.
In this role, youâll spend your time interacting with visitors, keeping an eye on whatâs happening around you, and working closely with Council staff. Youâll help prevent issues before they escalate and support people to enjoy Council spaces safely and respectfully. Full training and support will be provided.
This is a permanent partâtime role, working a minimum of 25 hours per week, including regular weekend work. It offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to build valuable skills in communication, teamwork, and conflict management.
