Welcome to Heretaunga, the area renowned for its rich and fertile landscape that is sustained by its life-giving dews and waterways. We are seeking applications for a permanent full-time Building Officer to join our busy, diverse and dedicated team in the Planning and Regulatory Services Group.
As an experienced building officer, you will play a role in processing some of Hastings' most exciting construction projects, housing developments and much more. Our values will resonate with you and will be evident in everything you do. You will be confident in mentoring and sharing your knowledge with others. Your understanding of the concept of Manakitanga - the process of showing respect, generosity and care for our customers that use our services, their whānau and communities will be a great fit with our team.
Ōu wheako – about you
- Ideally be an experienced building officer / inspector.
- You will hold qualifications in building or design, or a related field that will be recognised by Regulation 18 of the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006.
- Including technical competency under the national competency assessment criteria for Building Officers.
- You will have a minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Have good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a substantial workload to meet statutory deadlines.
- Have well-developed written and oral communication skills, and advanced computer skills.
- Have an excellent customer service focus.
- Have meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of computer / digital literacy.
