Role overview
As we grow our Home Insurance book within Hastings Direct, we are now seeking an experienced Reserving Actuary to expand our Reserving team and take on the responsibility for the production of reserve estimates, trend insights and regulatory reporting.
Job details – you’ll need to have demonstrable experience in:
- Leading the provision of Home reserving analyses, including formal quarterly valuations and presentations
- Input to pricing forums, business planning and financial forecasting processes
- Leading the conduct and reporting of formal quarterly claims reserve reviews
- Identifying areas for improvement and refinement of processes
- Engaging effectively with auditors (internal and external), advisers, shareholders and service providers on claims reserving and other actuarial matters
- Working with underwriting, pricing and claims teams, particularly in respect to providing insights on claims and reserving trends that are relevant for Pricing decisions
Essential skills/experience:
- Extensive experience within a similar actuarial role – ideally with some experience in home reserving
- Knowledge of ResQ, latest developments and industry practice regarding modelling techniques
- Strong communicator and relationship builder– able to effectively discuss with a variety of stakeholders, taking into account differences in knowledge, technical proficiency and expectations
- Proven experience of being able to explain and justify the use of expert judgement at arriving at conclusions
