Role Overview

Lead technical capability within the Motor Bodily Injury function, supporting development, coaching, and decision‑making for high‑value claims.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Head of Large Loss to define and implement technical strategy for claims up to £250k.
  • Design and implement a development pathway to enhance technical capability, confidence, and progression across the department.
  • Provide coaching and technical guidance to senior handlers, serving as the primary referral point.
  • Work with specialist frontline and leadership teams to improve assessment, management, and resolution of high‑value cases, and identify efficiencies.
  • Monitor changes in the bodily injury landscape (CPR, JCG, Consumer Duty, MOJ, OIC, Intermediate Track) and ensure teams adapt to new requirements.
  • Shape technical standards, quality controls, and governance frameworks to maintain compliance and commercial strength.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience handling high‑value motor bodily injury claims, ideally up to £500k.
  • Deep knowledge of indemnity principles, insurance contracts, RTA, MIB Articles of Association (incl. Article 75), BI legislation, protocols, and frameworks (CPR, JCG, Consumer Duty, MOJ, OIC, Intermediate Track).
  • Proven coaching/mentoring ability, providing constructive feedback on high‑value files.
  • Strong complaints handling experience and ability to resolve issues in line with regulatory expectations.
