As a company, we’ve made huge investments in our technology, pricing, data and analytics capabilities over the past few years, along with nurturing our 4Cs culture and substantial investment in our people. And as a Finance team, we're doing exactly the same – building a market leading finance technology platform, investing in our team and our approach to leadership development, with a real focus on commercially adding value to the business.

We have high standards and understand some people may not apply for jobs unless they feel they tick every box. If you’re excited about joining us and think you have some of what we are looking for, even if you’re not 100% sure, we would love to hear from you.

We’re looking for a Risk Manager to join our Second Line Risk team and play a key role in helping the company achieve its growth purpose, whilst demonstrating appropriate levels of control. This is a relationship-focused role where you’ll work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, supporting them to understand and own their risk responsibilities. You’ll act as a trusted adviser, providing clear, pragmatic guidance and constructive challenge, to support commercial decision-making and improved risk/reward trade-offs.

About the role
  • Building strong, trusted relationships with leaders and teams across the business.
  • Supporting stakeholders to confidently manage underwriting and pricing risks.
  • Providing practical risk advice and challenge on BAU activity, projects and change initiatives.
  • Helping embed good customer outcomes into decision-making and culture.
  • Translating regulatory requirements into clear, meaningful business impacts.
  • Coaching and supporting colleagues to build underwriting and pricing risk management capability and confidence.
What we’re looking for

You’ll be someone who enjoys working collaboratively, can influence with credibility, and is comfortable balancing regulatory requirements with commercial reality. You’ll bring:

  • Experience in technical risk management within UK financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK regulatory environment, particularly underwriting and pricing practices.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset with strong judgement.
  • Confidence to challenge appropriately and supportively at all levels.
Why join us?

You’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative Risk team, with real opportunity to shape how Risk partners with the business. This role offers exposure to senior stakeholders, meaningful influence, and the chance to make a tangible difference.

Benefits:
  • Flexible working – we champion a flexible hybrid working approach.
  • Competitive bonus scheme - all colleagues are eligible for our annual 4Cs performance bonus.
  • Physical wellbeing – Hastings pays for you to receive private medical Insurance (PMI).
  • Financial wellbeing – providing you with 4x your salary with our life assurance cover, income protection at no extra cost, and matched pension contributions up to 10%.
  • Mental wellbeing programme – including the thrive mental health app and our colleague assistance programme available 24/7.
  • 27 days annual leave + bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell one of your weeks.
  • Access to health care cash back plans, dental plans, discounted health assessments, Cycle to work and tech schemes, and social events throughout the year.

Join us and you’ll find a different way of doing things. We call it the 4Cs. We focus on getting it right for our colleagues, customers, company and community. As one of our colleagues, you’ll be helping to drive our growth, so in return, we’ll give you all the support, training and development you need.
