Role Overview: As our In-House Lawyer, you’ll be supporting the Head of Legal in all areas of duties and responsibilities. You’ll be responsible for drafting, negotiating and advising on contractual and other legal issues, with a specific focus on data, IT, claims and insurance intermediary activities/outsourced services. You’ll also be providing legal advice and guidance, assisting and supporting the Group, which includes operational departments and support functions.
Job Details – you’ll need to have demonstrable experience in:
- Developing a good understanding of the business and key contacts, building strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external advisers
- Drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide range of commercial contracts including data, outsourcing, software and other supplier agreements
- Reviewing and amending Terms of Business Agreements with insurance partners and ancillary product suppliers
- Reviewing and advising on insurance policy terms, online customers journeys and regulatory driven changes and interpreting contract terms for business owners, clearly explaining legal and commercial implications
- Providing accurate, timely and pragmatic legal advice on a variety of legal areas and deliver legal training to improve awareness of statutory and contractual obligations across the Group
- Supporting effective contract governance, including development, approval, execution and ongoing monitoring of contractual commitments
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Strong commercial contract drafting and negotiation experience
- Confident communicator – able to explain legal issues and influence outcomes at all levels by being clear and concise, using non-jargon language with non-technical stakeholders
- Formal legal professional qualifications and practicing certificate
- 2-3 years’ PQE and/or equivalent experience with strong independent contract-handling skills
