The Advanced Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences (AI-HSS) of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) is seeking outstanding scholars at all career stages to strengthen our research and teaching capabilities in the ethics and philosophy of science and technology. Successful candidates will join either the Research Center for Ethics and Governance of Science and Technology or the Research Center for Philosophy, Logic, and History of Science and Technology, conducting cutting-edge research on ethical, philosophical, and governance issues related to emerging technologies.
Faculty members will contribute to the institute's mission by conducting original research, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, supervising student research, securing external funding, and engaging with academic and non-academic stakeholders. They will address pressing questions regarding the development, deployment, and governance of technologies such as synthetic biology, artificial intelligence, big data, and the convergence of these domains. Research approaches may include theoretical analysis, empirical investigation, public engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Postdoctoral Fellowships: Focus on conducting research projects, developing publications, and assisting with teaching and academic events. Candidates need a PhD degree in a relevant field within the humanities or social sciences, no older than 32 years of age (age requirements may be waived for exceptionally qualified candidates). Compensation includes regionally competitive salary, performance-based incentives, and university welfare benefits.
- Lecturers: Balance research with teaching responsibilities and begin developing independent research programs. Candidates need a PhD in a relevant field within the humanities or social sciences, no older than 35 years of age (age requirements may be waived for exceptionally qualified candidates), and should exhibit potential for academic development. - Associate Professors: Lead research initiatives, supervise graduate students, secure research funding, and contribute to institutional development.
