We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and resilient Family Support Worker and Attendance Lead to join our busy primary school team. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and families and committed to ensuring every pupil has the best possible chance to succeed. The successful candidate will be hardworking, organised and able to thrive in a fast‑paced school environment where priorities can change quickly.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading on attendance and working proactively with pupils, families and external agencies to maintain and improve attendance.
- Using Department for Education (DfE) guidance and research to implement evidence‑based approaches that improve and sustain exceptional levels of school attendance.
- Providing support and guidance to families to help overcome barriers to learning and attendance.
- Supporting children with social, emotional and behavioural needs, including managing and responding to challenging behaviours in a consistent and compassionate manner.
- Working closely with school staff and outside professionals to ensure pupils receive the support they need.
- Maintaining accurate records and monitoring the impact of interventions.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be resilient, proactive and committed to achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
- Have experience of working with children and families in an educational or support setting.
- Understand current DfE attendance guidance and be able to use research and evidence‑based practice to drive improvement.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Be confident in supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviours.
- Be highly organised and capable of managing multiple tasks and competing priorities.
- Work effectively as part of a team while also using their own initiative.
