Recent Projects
- Southsea coastal scheme – we are the lead designer for the prestigious, 4.5km‑long Southsea coastal defence scheme in Portsmouth worth more than £160 million. The scheme is the UK’s largest Local Authority‑led coastal defence scheme and is being delivered as part of an integrated delivery team between Haskoning, Volker Stevin Boskalis Westminster (as lead contractor) and Coastal Partners (as client). New amenity, landscape and public realm features are included to deliver a once‑in‑a‑generation project that brings multiple benefits above and beyond a standard coastal defence scheme.
- Holme Sluice fish pass – Holme Sluice spans the full width of the River Trent to the south of Nottingham and was built in the 1950s as part of a large scale flood defence scheme. It is a major Environment Agency operational structure that helps to protect Nottingham from flooding and controls river levels upstream. It is the largest barrier to the natural migration of fish in the Midlands. We are delivering the detailed design and are providing construction support for the biggest fish pass in the country which is currently being delivered in collaboration with the Environment Agency.
- Bacton to Walcott sand scaping scheme – We supported the Bacton Gas Terminal operators and North Norfolk District Council in developing the detailed design of coast protection measures for the terminal and providing additional benefits to the downdrift village communities of Bacton, Walcott and Ostend. We developed the preferred Sandscaping scheme through to detailed design, using an iterative design process to help the client group to make an informed decision about the shape, volume and sediment size of the scheme.
