As a Senior Engineer you will report to the Coastal Team Leader and provide technical support within the Coastal Team and our worldwide Maritime Teams. You lead junior staff in the preparation of coastal studies and designs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support as required.
  • Prepare designs for coastal structures including breakwaters, revetments, groynes, etc., from initial concepts through to detailed designs.
  • Produce design calculations and review those produced by others.
  • Create sketch drawings and CAD details, and review them before issue.
  • Prepare design/technical reports.
  • Prepare specifications, bills of quantities and assist with contract documents for construction projects.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience on civil engineering projects.
  • Professional experience in planning and design of coastal structures, beach nourishment, scour protection.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Experience managing, directing, coaching, or mentoring junior staff in technical matters.
  • Sound engineering judgment and advice.
  • Commercial and technical management project skills, demonstrating commercial awareness.
  • BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Master’s degree in coastal engineering desirable; CEng, MICE or near to Chartered status.
  • Team player with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with international coastal engineering standards, manuals, etc.
  • Familiarity with concepts of numerical and physical modelling.
