This Advisory Group consists of around 230 staff, is based in the Netherlands across three offices (Delft, Amersfoort and Nijmegen), the UK (London, Liverpool and Brighton) and in Africa (Mozambique, Senegal, Nigeria). We excel in a wide variety of services and skills in the fields of Climate Resilience and Maritime developments. What you will do as a Senior Green Ports Consultant
As a Senior Green Ports consultant, you will be an important role model within the team responsible for the delivery of complex and strategic Green Ports projects. You will help develop an appropriate vision for sustainable port development strategies and craft strategic road maps of actions to deliver the client’s vision. Experience in port Master Planning would be beneficial, as our projects are often part of – and impact – broader port developments. Electrification and technology-driven optimization of port operations, introduction of alternative fuels for green shipping and for decarbonisation of surrounding industry, introducing building with nature solutions and assessing the environmental and social impact of port development and operations are just a few aspects we investigate, thereby making use of expertise from our Haskoning colleagues and strategic partners around the world.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing technical input to Green Port studies, on behalf of governments, development banks and international port clients, including port authorities and global container terminal operators
- Project managing small teams for timely and cost-effective delivery
- Performing technical due diligence studies
- Preparation of high-quality reports, presentations and client-facing workshops
- Developing proposals and commercial offers
- Promotion of the work of the team within the company and at industry events

We are looking for a candidate who matches the following requirements:
- A post-graduate qualification, in a related topic
- A minimum of 8 years’ experience, preferably in engineering, strategic or financial consultancy or similar organisation
- Proven experience in leading consultancy studies for port authorities, investors and or terminal operators
- Proven experience of collaborative working in teams and with other disciplines
- External business network connections with local or international port industry clients
- Capable of undertaking assignments effectively to achieve technically sound, timely and cost-effective results
- Other relevant experience in the port and terminals sector (e.g. design, operations, management)
- Experience of other topics, such as carbon foot printing, circular economy, environmental management, technology, automation, simulation and data visualization would be advantageous
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written (English) and a second language is an advantage.
- Willing to travel occasionally for client visits globally.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Commercially astute with strong marketing, growth, and profit orientation
- Interest in innovation and digital solutions
