Graduate Civil Engineer – Flood and Coastal Resilience at Haskoning. This role is based in the national and international market and focuses on coastal and fluvial engineering, supporting Project Managers and technical specialists across diverse projects.

About the Resilience Engineering team
Within the Environment-Resilience-Renewables (E-R-R) group, the team focuses on water’s edge projects with around 30 engineers and technicians. Projects include coastal, fluvial, and drainage work; collaboration with other engineering teams; and notable projects such as the Southsea Coastal Scheme, Northey Island Coastal Adaptation, and Holme Sluice Fish Pass. Roles cover all project stages from management to construction support and sustainability considerations.
The role
We are seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer to contribute to projects and proposals primarily in coastal and fluvial engineering for national and international markets. Responsibilities include site inspections, feasibility studies, designs, construction support, report writing, liaison with external parties, use/development of digital tools, document management & BIM, and sustainability & carbon considerations. A good understanding of engineering consultancy practice and awareness of environmental and industry issues is advantageous. You should be able to work in a team and, when needed, independently, collaborating with UK teams and cross-Business Line staff.
What we are looking for
- Bachelors (essential) and a Masters (desirable) in Civil Engineering or related discipline with a view to ICE Chartered Member status
- Understanding of materials and hydraulic, geotechnical, and structural principles
- Excellent organisation skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of the engineering and environmental consultancy sectors
- Previous experience within a team environment
- Interest in coastal and fluvial projects
- Commercial awareness
- Knowledge of industry drivers (e.g. NetZero, UN SDGs)
- Willingness to travel within the UK (essential) and overseas (desirable)
