This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, ambitious and entrepreneurial individual, looking for a position where they can shape the next steps of their career. We are looking for people who can combine technical coastal expertise and strong digital skills with client focus.

On the one hand, you will need to be rooted in technical coastal expertise (coastal engineering, processes or management), both through your university education and work experience. But it is essential for this role to also have a broader perspective of wanting to help clients address their challenges and achieve their ambitions on the coast.

The team is made up of Coastal Engineers, Scientists and Consultants who boast a wealth of experience having worked in consultancy for many years. Our team of experts deliver Flood and Coastal strategies and solutions for public clients but also for landowners, businesses and communities throughout the UK and worldwide. In the UK we are a niche player; on the one hand we focus on local areas, on the other hand we work nationally where it concerns our policy consultancy, research and innovative solutions.

The team rarely does standard repeat work: we get involved in the more complex and challenging cases and like to pioneer new approaches, bringing clients and stakeholders along and focused on supporting their investment decisions.

About the Role: You will be part of an established but growing UK team. An important part of your role will be to take a leading role on proposals, projects and programmes, using your technical, digital and commercial expertise. You will work with other experts and account managers, extending the breadth of your consultancy expertise. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of existing client relationships, market sectors and services, and develop new ones. This role will lead the coastal management sub-practice. This practice drives innovation and tool development, coordinates resourcing and supports business development.

Main Work Areas: You will work across a broad Flood and Coastal Management (FCM) scope, including policy and strategy development, engineering, funding, stakeholder engagement and R&D. You will lead on a portfolio of projects, proposals and new opportunities, providing technical input and working with other experts to deliver projects on time and budget and creating sustainable client relationships. You will lead and initiate the development of new methods and innovations including digital tools, both to improve project work and as services to clients. You will provide technical support, staff development and mentoring for graduate / senior colleagues. You will link and work collaboratively with peers across Haskoning in the UK and worldwide bringing teams closer together.

This role might be right for you if you:

  • Have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Have developed strong technical coastal expertise, and have started to apply this to support clients.
  • Are inquisitive and innovative.
  • Are adaptable and flexible across a range of projects and clients.
  • Are independent and have the ability to lead and work effectively with a multi-functional project team.
  • You excel in client facing roles and enjoy building lasting relationships.
  • Have worked within / close to Flood and Coastal Management in a complex setting, for example in coastal management, business case development, strategic consultancy, development of methods & tools.
  • You are chartered or seeking chartership (CEnv, CSci, C.WEM or CEng).

What we can offer you: You can look forward to growing your career in a dynamic workplace with development opportunities and support on your career path. We have flexible working models to ensure a balance of family and working life, including part-time options.

About Us: We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered. Our mission of "Enhancing Society Together" drives us to create an environment that embraces everyone's unique background, identity, and perspective. Regardless of your experience, background, age, gender, or other personal characteristics you are welcome here. We believe that diversity makes us stronger and that an inclusive culture gives everyone the opportunity to grow and contribute.
