I'm supporting a well established and supportive Law firm based in Telford who is recruiting for an experienced Legal Secretary / Assistant to support the Senior Partner in the Private Client Wills and Probate Department.

The job role will include - Handling telephone and other queries from clients and others.

Receiving telephone messages, facsimile messages and emails ensuring they are dealt with promptly.

Communicating with clients in their personal calls to the office and ensuring that they are given a prompt, efficient and friendly service.

Assisting with duties including typing of letters, documents, filing and copying.

Preparing documents and correspondence, including preparing mail and enclosures.

Assisting in administration of Private Client files from opening of files to their close and subsequent archiving Making appointments, maintaining and reviewing the diary on a daily basis.

Management of financial aspects of client files including ensuring that all money transactions are notified to the Accounts Clerk and are also noted on every files money sheet.

Research of relevant legal issues.

Drafting legal documents and correspondence.

Meeting with clients on behalf of the department to assist with legal matters such as Lasting Powers of Attorney and Probate matters.

Regular reviews of files.

Covering for others when they are unavailable.

Providing guidance to new, inexperienced or temporary members of staff as necessary.

Ensuring all matters are dealt with smoothly in the absence of Senior Partner and that clients queries are promptly dealt with.

Ensuring that the Wills LPAs & Probate precedents and database are kept up-to-date, effective and in order.

Skills Required Ability to learn quickly.

A willingness to develop secretarial skills.

An ability to work under pressure.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills - There will be significant contact with clients and other parties with whom a good working relationship is crucial.

The ability to apply common sense in handling competing priorities.

Sound work management and organisational skills and Initiative.

Essential Attributes Existing experience in an office environment is essential.

Proficiency with Word and Outlook.

Good Typing speed.

Excellent typing accuracy.

Good spelling and punctuation.

Good attention to detail.
