I am currently working with a well established Law firm based in Basingstoke to work within a new department in the business. Although the team is still small, it is close-knit, collaborative, and ambitious. Team members are eager to learn, open to feedback, and always looking for ways to improve how they work. With a strong focus on development and innovation, the team is committed to embedding best practices and helping to shape the future of the function within the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the client onboarding process by gathering, reviewing, and recording identification and verification documents in line with AML regulations.
  • Carry out initial and ongoing client due diligence checks using electronic verification systems and open-source research.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date compliance records, ensuring all documentation is filed in accordance with data protection requirements.
  • Monitor shared inboxes and respond to compliance queries or escalate them where necessary.
  • Assist in tracking training attendance and compliance with internal policies across the firm.
  • Help to prepare documentation for internal audits or regulatory inspections.
  • Support the development and maintenance of compliance policies, templates, and guidance materials.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Compliance and Risk team, including scheduling meetings, minute-taking, and updating logs/registers.
  • Stay informed on compliance updates and help circulate relevant regulatory changes or firm policies internally.

Person Specification

  • Previous administrative experience, ideally within a professional service or legal environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Discreet and able to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive and willing to learn about compliance and regulatory frameworks.
