Hutchison Ports – Port of Felixstowe is the UK’s largest deep‑water container port and a key gateway for global trade. We are currently looking for a Reefer Monitoring Technician to join our Felixstowe Port Container Services (FPCS) team. This role involves field‑based monitoring, servicing and basic maintenance of refrigerated containers (reefers), ensuring they operate safely and within specified conditions. You’ll play a key role in supporting the movement and storage of temperature‑controlled cargo, ensuring that containers are monitored accurately and any issues are identified and reported promptly. Working independently across the terminal, you will support operational delivery through inspection, reporting and hands‑on activity, helping to maintain high standards of safety, reliability and service across reefer operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out plugging, unplugging and routine monitoring of reefers, ensuring temperature, ventilation and humidity requirements are met.
- Inspect reefers and associated equipment, identifying and reporting damage, faults or unsafe conditions.
- Provide accurate and timely reports on container status, operational issues and maintenance requirements.
- Support inspection programmes and contribute to maintaining compliance with operational and safety standards.
- Liaise with operational and engineering teams to support equipment availability and issue resolution.
- Maintain accurate records using systems and ensure clear shift handovers.
- Support general yard duties and maintain equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
- Assist with mentoring new or temporary staff and support team capability development.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance safety and operational efficiency.
What you need
- Basic understanding of reef monitoring and servicing activities.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work in a container terminal environment, including physically demanding conditions.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to interpret operational data and identify issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Full UK driving licence.
