Luxury department store, Harvey Nichols, is searching for a Store Detective to join the team in Edinburgh. Our culture is based on inclusivity; we embrace diversity. Whoever you are, Harvey Nichols has a place for you. As the new Store Detective, you will work 37.5 hours a week on a rota basis across our opening hours. Typical shift patterns are 06.30am – 15.00pm, 09.45am – 18.15pm, 10.45am – 19.15pm, 14.30pm – 23.00pm and 15.30pm – 00.00am.

About the role…

As a Store Detective you will be responsible for:

  • Providing a fair and consistent level of enforcement of all Company policies and procedures and maintaining a high level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Identifying and advising store management and staff of any possible stock loss risks and best practice in loss prevention.
  • Detecting, apprehending and detaining persons guilty of stealing Company property, cash or merchandise.
  • Conducting regular and random searches of employee and contractors’ possessions in line with the Company policy.

The ideal candidate for the store detective position will hold a valid SIA Door Supervisor License and have previous experience of security and loss prevention particularly in a luxury retail environment.

  • In addition to this the candidate must have a good knowledge of Criminal Law, court procedures and security equipment.
  • They must possess strong communication, organisational and planning skills, along with self-motivation and the ability to quickly adapt to challenging situations.
  • The working hours for this position are 37.5 hours a week, working 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis, inclusive of weekends.
