About the role…

As Finance Manager - FP&A you will oversee all Fixed Assets, Sales & Margin and FP&A functions, including the annual budget & forecasting process. To provide senior support to the management accounting function, month-end and year-end audit. To maintain and develop financial and reporting processes and undertake projects as directed by the financial controller.

The roles and responsibilities in this Finance Manager - FP&A include:

  • Overall responsibility for the full annual budgeting and forecasting process for sales, margin and costs, working across the business to understand and challenge submissions.
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly rolling forecasts, working with the business to identify risks and opportunities to the budget.
  • Work closely with cost controllers and General Managers to understand performance.
  • Work closely with Merchandising team to understand the performance of sales, margins and stock.
  • Maintain the budgeting & reporting system BOARD – including testing, implement upgrades and set-up each forecasting cycle with support from IT.
  • Prepare weekly sales & margin and promotion reporting, providing insightful commentary and analysis.
  • Review of Sale forecasts and stock position from merchandisers.
  • Oversee the capital expenditure review process, ensuring capex submission are in budget and business appraisals prepared for larger projects.
  • Support the financial accounting manager and financial controller with year-end including providing information to external auditors and review of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain and improve financial controls within the finance department.
  • Plan and organise any other ad hoc projects as required by the CFO and Financial Controller and to ensure that objectives and deadlines are met.
  • Undertake analytical work and business appraisals as requested by the Financial Controller.
  • Supervise a team of 2 finance analysts and take responsibility for their on-going professional development.

  • Qualified (ACCA/ACA/CIMA)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Extensive knowledge of understanding company financials and analysing financial data
  • Working with historic and projective data to create complex but usable models
  • Retail experience would be advantageous
  • Proven experience of working in finance department.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – able to work as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills – able to communicate to Directors and Senior Managers confidently.
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Good planning and prioritisation skills. Able to work in a methodical manner.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Interest in understanding systems and making improvements.
