Harvey Nichols is seeking a Kitchen Porter to join our team in the Edinburgh store. Known for exceptional food and service, our restaurants thrive behind the scenes thanks to hardworking kitchen teams. As a Kitchen Porter, you’ll play a key role in keeping the kitchen clean, organised, and running smoothly, supporting our chefs to deliver outstanding dining experiences every day.
The working hours for this role are 32 hours per week, with typical shift patterns Wednesday to Saturday; however, some cover may be needed outside of these days.
About the role…- Support the kitchen team in delivering a five‑star, premium dining experience.
- Prepare and operate the dishwasher to ensure fast, efficient turnaround of crockery and cutlery.
- Manage the pot wash area throughout service, ensuring it runs smoothly at all times.
- Collect used kitchen equipment (pans, trays, utensils) and return them clean and correctly stored.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and care to reduce damage and breakages.
- Form a productive relationship with FOH, bar staff and stock movement, communicating regularly to allow smooth operations.
- Effectively manage waste, ensuring guidelines are followed.
- Previous experience in a busy kitchen environment is preferred.
- A strong eye for detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
- A positive attitude and genuine passion for hospitality.
- A team‑focused approach, with the ability to work well in a fast‑paced environment.
