Luxury department store, Harvey Nichols, is searching for a new Assistant Security Manager to join its thriving Edinburgh store. Our culture is based on inclusivity; we embrace diversity. As the new Assistant Security Manager, you will work 37.5 hours a week on a rota basis across our opening hours.

About the Role:
  • Effectively work with the Security Manager and Operations Manager to minimise stock loss and ensure the security of the building, its staff and its contents through optimum management of security resources and effective security policies and practices.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for those within the store for staff, customers and contractors.
  • Ensure that you and your team provide a courteous and efficient service to both internal and external customers to the department at all times.
  • Assist in the identification of training requirements within the team and ensure quality on‑job training is provided and recorded.
  • Undertake and manage the investigation of suspected criminal acts whether by internal or external persons, in accordance with the relevant legislation and legal requirements.
  • Monitor all paperwork relating to the movement of stock from the store.
  • Work with the Uniformed Guards’ company to ensure effective management of guards.
  • Ensure that all equipment (cameras, radios, fire equipment, intruder equipment, etc.) is properly maintained and regularly checked.
  • Maintain all department records – e.g. Occurrence Book, statements for police, banning notices.
  • Maintain efficient procedures for dealing with contractors and other visitors to site.
  • Manage loss prevention by customer interaction and maintaining a keen awareness of store security procedures and policies and carry out regular stock checks.
  • Ensure that the department is maintained in a safe manner, free of hazards, and that store Health and Safety Regulations are always adhered to.
  • Escalate issues to the relevant line manager.
  • Maintain and promote the credibility of the department at all times, building good working relationships with both internal and external clients/customers, to ensure collaboration on security matters.
