Role Purpose

The Interim Timetabling Manager will provide experienced leadership and operational oversight of the University’s timetabling function during a critical planning period. The postholder will work closely with Faculties and Professional Services to deliver effective, student-centred timetables and will lead planning activity for the September 2026 student intake. This role requires significant Higher Education timetabling experience and hands-on expertise in CMIS.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the University’s timetabling activity, ensuring delivery of high-quality, efficient, and compliant academic timetables.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Faculties on timetabling matters, building strong and collaborative working relationships.
  • Engage proactively with academic and professional stakeholders to understand teaching requirements, resolve conflicts, and manage expectations.
  • Ensure effective use and optimisation of space and teaching resources.
  • Oversee and maintain accurate timetabling data within CMIS, ensuring data integrity and adherence to agreed processes.
  • Identify risks and issues relating to timetabling delivery and develop pragmatic mitigation plans.
  • Review existing timetabling processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and stakeholder experience.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to timetabling staff (where applicable).
  • Produce reports, analysis, and updates for senior stakeholders as required.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Significant experience in timetabling within a Higher Education environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of working collaboratively with academic Faculties and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of HE academic structures, programme delivery, and curriculum planning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work at pace, manage competing priorities, and deliver to tight deadlines.
