Overview
A versatile and capable IT engineer, experienced with Microsoft-based online environments and businesses. Proven track record of creating and maintaining large-scale and reliable business systems, managed remotely across multiple time zones and data centres. Clear and consistent communicator, supporting others in their own team as well as business customers and stakeholders. The successful candidate must be available to manage emergency call outs 24/7, on a rota basis with several other engineers, covering approximately one week every six weeks.
Technical Skills
- Windows Server experience (Failover Clustering, Microsoft NLB, IIS)
- Microsoft Entra Cloud Infrastructure (Exchange Online, Intune, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Teams)
- Cloud Infrastructure (Cloudflare, AWS) – CDN, DNS, WAF
- Experience with Linux systems would be an advantage
Background & Experience
Should be able to demonstrate, through practical examples, their ability to:
- Research and justify technology choices by identifying clear business requirements, evaluating suitable solutions, and selecting the most appropriate technology.
- Plan technology implementations by producing structured deployment plans that clearly outline how the chosen solution will meet defined business needs.
- Execute and adapt implementation plans effectively by identifying, managing, and responding to deviations or challenges during delivery.
- Evaluate and improve implementations by critically analysing rollouts, capturing lessons learned, and recommending improvements for future initiatives.
- Provide support for a variety of technologies across a high-traffic e-commerce platform, or a comparable environment, with thousands of active users and strict 24/7/365 availability requirements.
As this is a customer-facing role, you should be confident communicating effectively and appropriately with stakeholders at all levels of the business, including senior executives, internal teams, and customers.
