Harvey Nash have partnered with a global business well established within the online gaming/gambling industry who have ambitious growth plans heading into 2025. The company has a wide array of clients ranging from independent gaming studios to the world’s largest online casinos delivered into by teams across the UK, Canada, South Africa, and China.
The successful DBA will design, build, implement, manage and maintain MySQL databases in a Linux environment. You will implement and oversee database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies whilst monitoring database performance, identifying issues, and implementing solutions for optimisation. You will collaborate closely with development teams to design and optimise database schemas, queries, and indexes.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about technology and stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies related to MySQL and database management. The team is around 40 heads across IT and operates a flat structure. They tend to go into the office once a month/quarter.
The ideal skillset of the Senior DBA includes:
- Strong experience with MySQL in a DBA capacity
- Experience with other database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL)
- Understanding of SQL Server, preferably in the context of having ported to MySQL
- Experience with high availability solutions such as clustering, replication, and failover
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation would be a bonus
