The Role
We're supporting a fast-growing, FCA-regulated financial services organisation seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the evolution of its Snowflake-based Data Lakehouse platform. This is a hands-on contract role that will see you working across the full data life cycle, from architecture and ingestion through to modelling, governance, and business intelligence. You'll play a key role in delivering data solutions that support trading, operational, and commercial decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and enhance a Snowflake-based Data Lakehouse environment.
- Develop scalable data models and enterprise data warehouse solutions.
- Build and optimise dbt pipelines using best practice frameworks.
- Deliver business-critical reporting and dashboards through Power BI.
- Drive performance optimisation, governance, and data quality initiatives.
- Work directly with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Essential Experience:
- Financial Services, Trading, Capital Markets, or FinTech experience.
- Proven experience designing and delivering Data Warehouse or Lakehouse solutions on Snowflake.
- Advanced SQL and data modelling expertise, including dimensional modelling and star/snowflake schemas.
- Strong commercial experience with dbt.
- Extensive Power BI experience.
- Strong Snowflake optimisation experience, including warehouse sizing, clustering, query profiling, and cost management.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
