The Role

We're supporting a fast-growing, FCA-regulated financial services organisation seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the evolution of its Snowflake-based Data Lakehouse platform. This is a hands-on contract role that will see you working across the full data life cycle, from architecture and ingestion through to modelling, governance, and business intelligence. You'll play a key role in delivering data solutions that support trading, operational, and commercial decision-making across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and enhance a Snowflake-based Data Lakehouse environment.
  • Develop scalable data models and enterprise data warehouse solutions.
  • Build and optimise dbt pipelines using best practice frameworks.
  • Deliver business-critical reporting and dashboards through Power BI.
  • Drive performance optimisation, governance, and data quality initiatives.
  • Work directly with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Essential Experience:

  • Financial Services, Trading, Capital Markets, or FinTech experience.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering Data Warehouse or Lakehouse solutions on Snowflake.
  • Advanced SQL and data modelling expertise, including dimensional modelling and star/snowflake schemas.
  • Strong commercial experience with dbt.
  • Extensive Power BI experience.
  • Strong Snowflake optimisation experience, including warehouse sizing, clustering, query profiling, and cost management.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
