We are currently seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design, build and optimise scalable data pipelines and datasets that support reporting, analytics and business decision-making. This role will play a key part in transforming data from core systems including SAP, Excel and cloud platforms into structured, trusted and accessible outputs, particularly for use in Power BI.
This is a hands-on role, well suited to someone who can combine strong technical data engineering skills with a practical understanding of business reporting needs.
Key Responsibilities- Design, build and maintain robust data pipelines to ingest and transform data from SAP, Excel and cloud-based systems
- Develop and manage structured datasets for reporting, analytics and business intelligence
- Write and optimise SQL queries, views and transformations to support downstream reporting
- Support the design of logical data models, ontologies and business data definitions
- Ensure data quality, integrity and consistency across systems and reporting outputs
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions
- Prepare clean, reliable datasets for Power BI dashboards and reporting
- Troubleshoot data issues and improve reliability and accuracy of outputs
- Document data flows, transformations and structures
- Contribute to data standards, governance and best practice
- Proven experience in a Data Engineer or similar role
- Strong SQL skills with the ability to write efficient and maintainable queries
- Solid understanding of data modelling, structures and transformation logic
- Experience working with SAP data for reporting or analytics
- Strong experience handling and structuring Excel-based data
- Experience working with cloud-based data environments
- Experience preparing data for Power BI or similar BI tools
- Understanding of data quality, governance and data management principles
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
