This role focuses on the core cloud platform and associated infrastructure and will give you the opportunity to contribute to infrastructure projects across a variety of services and cloud platforms, supporting the clients strategic themes.
This position involves supporting the team in ensuring we continue to deliver operational excellence alongside wider major organisational transformation project, involving a change of IT Operations Partner and transformation of our ways of working within the IT Service area.
As a team player, you will work closely with a team of strategists, architects, and engineers to craft technical solutions that in turn accelerate our business.
Main Duties:
- Identify and progress opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement across the team, delivery, and operational practices.
- Collaborate to reduce operational risk within the core cloud platform.
- Partner with Product owners and management to manage and clearly articulate demand planning and delivery against the projected backlog and book of work.
- Provide support and best practice guidance for application teams on adopting our platforms.
- Contribute to ensuring operational commitments continue to be met, including helping manage and resolve tickets in the team's support queues.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Understanding of either Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure and Cloud Native Architectures is essential.
- A Cloud Certification in either Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure is desirable, but not essential.
- Experience of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) is required, and experience of Terraform is desirable.
- Knowledge of Operating Systems (Windows and/or Linux).
- Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of operational support procedures.
- Ability to write software scripts in at least one general-purpose programming language (Bash, PowerShell, Python) or develop automation in one configuration tool (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Strong communication skills to be able to collaborate with teams across the organisation to help support the clients cloud adoption.
This role has been deemed Inside IR35 by the client. Applicants must hold, or be happy to apply for, a valid Basic Disclosure Scotland.
