The client has recently migrated to Embedded Linux and is looking for an engineer to help enhance and modernise the platform, improving performance, stability and real-time capabilities.

You'll be responsible for reviewing the existing Linux implementation, enhancing the current architecture, and bringing the platform up to date using modern Embedded Linux best practices. Working closely with hardware and software teams, you'll play a key role in the ongoing evolution of the client's embedded products.

Key skills and responsibilities:

  • Strong commercial experience developing Embedded Linux solutions.
  • Experience with Buildroot for creating and maintaining embedded Linux systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Embedded C/C++.
  • Linux kernel configuration, customisation and optimisation.
  • Experience enhancing and maintaining existing Linux platforms.
  • Real-time Linux experience, including performance tuning and optimisation.
  • Board Support Package (BSP) development and hardware bring-up.
  • Device driver development and debugging.
  • Strong experience working with ARM processors/ARM-based platforms.
  • Bootloader experience, including U-Boot, is desirable.
  • Cross-compilation and embedded toolchain experience.
  • Version control using Git.
  • Experience with API integration and file transfer mechanisms within embedded systems.
  • Implementation of USB and Bluetooth connectivity solutions.
  • Experience developing features for pushing and synchronising files to cloud platforms.
  • Experience working closely with hardware and firmware engineers throughout the development lifecycle.

Desirable Experience:

  • Commercial experience within the Audio industry or developing embedded audio solutions.
  • Understanding of analogue-to-digital (A-D) signal processing or audio hardware integration.
  • Experience modernising legacy embedded Linux environments.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a project where you'll play a key role in enhancing an existing Embedded Linux platform and delivering the next generation of embedded technology.
