Harvey Nash's public sector client is currently looking to recruit a Developer to join their team based in Edinburgh for an initial 6-month period.

An experienced developer with solid commercial AWS development experience is required to accelerate a move from legacy on-prem registers to new cloud-native solutions. The focus of the work will be the collaborative development of new serverless micro-services using AWS Lambda functions and TypeScript/JavaScript.

Essential Skills:
  • AWS including: CDK, Serverless (Lambda), S3, API Gateway, CloudFormation
  • TypeScript (or modern JavaScript)
  • Making excellent quality software with other people.
  • Working with business stakeholders, to understand the context, and to focus on delivering value.
  • Design and implementation of solutions using a service-based and serverless architecture.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience working in the Agile delivery models - such as Scrum and/or Kanban frameworks.
  • Developing within GDS or Digital First (or similar) quality standards
  • Cloud monitoring, telemetry, intelligence tools and processes
  • Formal XP engineering techniques, including Pair Programming and Test-Driven Development
  • Defining infrastructure-as-code
Desirable Skills:
  • Human-centred, research-driven, inclusive design practices
  • Testing tools and frameworks, e.g. Cypress
  • Use of UI pattern libraries to achieve consistent, tested and high-quality interfaces
