Salary: Β£33,000 - 65,000 per year

Requirements:

  • Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and ASM support
  • Strong database and operating system concepts
  • Good previous experience in administering Oracle DBs versions 9, 10, 11 in a high availability environment
  • Experience in implementing database upgrades
  • Participation in client/project meetings for needs assessment and design review
  • Ability to analyze needs and requirements of users for existing and proposed database systems
  • Proficient in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining databases for internal and external users/clients
  • Experience creating, documenting, and implementing standards to monitor and enhance database capacity and performance
  • Coding and programming skills as necessary
  • Development of data import and export routines to automate data loading
  • Experience building windows, screens, and reports
  • Oracle certification such as Administrator Certified Associate/Professional (desirable)
  • Additional knowledge and/or experience with Azure Dev Ops (desirable)
  • Experience with backups, business continuity, and disaster recovery techniques (RMAN, DataGuard, Commvault, etc.)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Oracle DBA in a production environment
  • 5 to 7 years of overall experience as an Oracle DBA, specifically with versions 9 and 10g
  • Solaris 9/10 Administration skills (preferable)

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in a large-scale digital transformation program
  • Analyze the needs and requirements of users for existing and proposed database systems
  • Develop technical specifications, including access methods, access time, job control language, and validation checks
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain databases for internal and external users/clients
  • Create, document, and implement standards to enhance database performance
  • Program and write codes as necessary
  • Develop data import and export routines to automate data loading
  • Build windows, screens, and reports
  • Collaborate in client/project meetings for needs assessment and design review

We are a Pub Sec client undergoing a large-scale 3-year digital transformation program and seek an Oracle DBA for a 6-month contract position based in Edinburgh. We offer a hybrid work model and have deemed this role Outside IR35. Candidates will need to hold, or be willing to apply for, a valid Basic Disclosure Scotland.
