User Researcher - Public Sector

6-Month Contract | Inside IR35 | Negotiable Day Rate
We are looking for an experienced User Researcher to join a public sector organisation on an initial 6-month contract.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary digital team, helping to ensure services are designed around genuine user needs and supported by robust research and evidence.
Key responsibilities:

Plan and deliver user research across different stages of the service lifecycle

Conduct qualitative research including interviews, usability testing, contextual research and workshops

Identify user needs, behaviours, pain points and opportunities

Analyse and synthesise research findings into clear, actionable insights

Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Business Analysts and Delivery teams

Champion user-centred design and accessibility throughout the development process

Communicate research findings effectively to stakeholders and influence service decisions

Support continuous improvement of services based on user evidence
Essential experience:

Strong commercial experience working as a User Researcher

Experience delivering research within agile, multidisciplinary teams

Confident using a range of qualitative research methods

Experience translating complex research into actionable recommendations

Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills xiskglj

Understanding of accessibility and inclusive research practices

Public sector or government digital experience would be highly advantageous
