Meta Reality Lab’s mission is to help people feel connected, anytime, anywhere. At the heart of this is Meta’s Horizon, where users can create, explore, and connect in an ever-expanding virtual world.

Critical to this mission is building the full environments for the worlds and the environment asset content that can be used by creators to build new experiences.

As a CW Senior Environment Artist on the team, you’ll be working with a talented group of industry professionals leading the way in the emergent and creative space of Metaverse characters.

Responsibilities

  1. Create believable and visually appealing environments and environment assets that delight our audience.
  2. Deliver production content to time and to specification, including full environments, kit pieces, props and variants.
  3. Build strong collaborative working relationships with all members of the art and technical art teams in the studio.
  4. Support our work with external vendors, collaborating and giving feedback on technical and artistic elements of their models and textures.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Strong teamwork and communication skills, ability to receive and offer feedback, ability to both follow and provide creative direction.
  2. Portfolio that demonstrates excellent environment creation and design skills (the art) and the delivery of this content to run-time systems (the craft).
  3. Practical experience and understanding of setting environment scene and sub-object quality, and delivering these assets to game engines and identifying and solving any bugs related to the content.
  4. Highly proficient in relevant software packages, e.g. Maya, Z-Brush, Substance and commercial Game Engines.
  5. Excellent artistic judgment, understanding of form, mood, lighting and composition, with the ability to represent this in a stylized way following established art guides.
  6. A strong understanding of low-poly creation methods for real-time platforms such as mobile and VR.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience with scene lighting and optimization.
  2. Experience in working with outsourcers/external contributors.
  3. Ability to add simple environmental animation and FX to scenes.
