We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance to join a major Scottish public sector organisation on an interim basis. Reporting to the Chief Executive and forming part of the Executive Leadership Team, you will provide strategic financial leadership across a complex organisation with an annual budget of approximately £500m.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Finance and Procurement functions.
  • Provide strategic financial advice to the Chief Executive and Executive Leadership Team.
  • Oversee financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, risk management and governance.
  • Lead annual budget-setting and spending review processes.
  • Manage relationships with government stakeholders and external auditors.
  • Oversee statutory accounts and financial compliance activities.
  • Support major transformation and organisational change programmes.
  • Ensure value for money, accountability and effective stewardship of public funds.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • CCAB-qualified accountant with current membership of a recognised professional accountancy body and up-to-date CPD.
  • Significant senior finance leadership experience within a large, complex organisation.
  • Proven experience managing substantial budgets and financial planning processes.
  • Strong understanding of public sector governance, audit and financial controls.
  • Experience providing strategic advice at Executive or Board level.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.

Desirable

  • Public sector or government experience.
  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation programmes.
